- XDefiant producer has confirmed that a release date will be announced soon after a successful playtest earlier this month.
- Mark Rubin addresses some of the most important issues raised from the recent playtest.
XDefiant‘s executive producer Mark Rubin has said that the game’s most recent server test “went really well,” and that a release date announcement will be “coming very soon.”
In a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter), Rubin addressed some of the most common issues in XDefiant’s playtest earlier this month. While Rubin says that the development team is aware it wasn’t perfect for everyone, due to the immense amount of feedback from fans, Ubisoft San Francisco was able to identify “a few things” to improve the overall experience.
XDefiant Wants To Be Rainbow Six Siege For Casual Players
Players will be able to go into matches with custom weapon presets to make it harder to get killed.
The XDefiant playtest may have been a success from a server standpoint, but there were a large number of players blasting the upcoming shooter, with one player even stating that XDefiant is nowhere near ready for release. From hit detection issues to bad netcode, some players feel as though XDefiant needs a little longer in the oven. Although it’s been in development for so long, I’m surprised it’s not overcooked at this point.
XDefiant’s Release Date Announcement Is Finally Approaching
Despite the mixed reaction from fans, it looks like XDefiant’s release date could finally be announced within the coming days or weeks. “The Server Test Session went really well from a scale and server standpoint. We have some tuning to do. Pretty straight forward stuff that will be done very soon if not done already. And lastly release date coming very soon,” producer Mark Rubin said in a new post on X.
Rubin also released a lengthy statement discussing what Ubisoft specifically learned from the playtest and what will be improved for the full release.
A common error that many players encountered during the 3-day playtest was ‘Delta-01’. Rubin says this error was likely why a lot of players were getting shot around corners. While a fix will be integrated for the full release, Rubin says how much it improves the experience is “to be determined.”
Then there was an issue with the health bars, which weren’t updating in real time as players were dealing damage to their opponents. While damage was still being dealt to the opponent, the laggy health bars made the time-to-kill appear much slower than it actually was.
And finally, Rubin says Ubisoft was “not aggressive enough with [their] matchmaking,” which resulted in players being forced into matches with higher pings than ideal. The XDefiant producer did note that a fix for this was deployed on the final day of the test, so players should have already seen a significant improvement before the test came to an end.
With all of these issues identified and fixes in the works, it looks like XDefiant fans won’t be waiting much longer to jump into the final release.
