Highlights
- Fans of GTA 6 are eagerly anticipating more blood and gore in the game, hoping for the option to toggle violence on and off.
- Rockstar has the potential to implement a feature that allows players to control the level of gore in GTA 6, similar to other popular games.
- The debate among gamers continues on whether a violence toggle should be included by default in GTA 6, with differing opinions on the necessity of such a feature.
In Grand Theft Auto‘s heyday, it (unsurprisingly) gathered quite a bit of hate due to its high levels of violence and crime. Many people outside of the gaming world grabbed their pitchforks on a crusade against Rockstar, often with GTA 5 as their main target for critique.
As times (sort of) move on from the tired trope of “video games cause violence”, GTA 6 players want nothing more than a shed load of blood and gore in the game they’ve waited years to play or, at the very least, for Rockstar to give them the option to toggle it on and off.
GTA 6 Fans Believe Lucia Has Potential To Be “Greatest Rockstar Character”
GTA 6’s Lucia could be exactly what the franchise needs as long as Rockstar doesn’t craft her into another stereotype.
More Gore, More Blood
There are plenty of violent games out there, but it’s safe to say that GTA 5 comes close to the top of the list. Between beating people with baseball bats, running them over on a high-speed chance through downtown LA, shooting the crap out of them, and torturing them with electricity, a pipe wrench, or a pair of pliers – there are numerous ways to be as violent as possible if that’s what floats your boat. (talking about boats, also add drowning people to the list)
Even though we know very little about what Rockstar has planned content wise for GT6, fans are already thinking about how much blood and gore they can enjoy. Much of this would possibly come down to what age rating Rockstar will be able to get away with, but it will most likely be rated R+ or M-rated due to the nature of the game’s content. Games like God of War and Mortal Kombat also fall under this same rating and both of those titles have their fair share of blood and gore.
Games like Gears of War allowed players to toggle headshots, gore for regular ragdolls, and sparks instead of blood, and Assassin’s Creed Origins lets players turn off blood, so really, there doesn’t seem to be a reason why Rockstar couldn’t implement this type of feature in GTA 6 too, although the online mode may prove a struggle.
“I want as much gore as possible” replied @GTASixInfo in a Twitter/X thread discussing the topic. “100% agree, a setting for none, low and high gore would be the perfect solution for everyone” agreed @Amaze2174, although @SynthPotato believes that because it’s an adult game, there shouldn’t even be a violence toggle in the first place, “It’s a +18 game, it should be on by default and there’s no need for an off switch”.
So far, Rockstar hasn’t spilled a lot yet on what fans can look forward to apart from a wild trailer at the end of last year, but things could be on the turn. According to Metro, a second trailer could be on its way soon that includes a potential release date.
