Elden Ring gives players many options on how they want to build their character, with hundreds of weapons and skills to pair them with. While there is an incredible amount of creativity for a build, some weapons are unique and have their own special skill that can only be used on that weapon and not gotten rid of with an Ash of War.
Elden Ring: 12 Heaviest Armor Sets
For melee warriors who prefer armaments that really matter, this list can help you find the best Elden Ring armor for you.
Skills like these tend to be very powerful, and the Coded Sword has one of those skills. This is an excellent sword for faith builds and can be difficult to get as progressing far enough into the game will block you from obtaining this sword.

How To Get The Coded Sword
The Coded Sword can only be obtained before defeating Maliketh, The Black Blade. After defeating this boss, the Capital will transform, and the location of this sword will be forever cut off until you start another playthrough or begin New Game +. This sword is found within the Capital, with the best starting point being the West Capital Rampart Site Of Grace. Once you spawn at this Site of Grace, look to the opposite side of the Grace, and you will spot some railings. Jump over it. Now, turn left and jump down again.
Now, head towards the large root growing into the ground. Head around the root to the right side, jumping up on the nearby rooftops to get to the door alongside the building to the right. Head into the building, which will start to look very familiar. Once in the other version of the Roundtable Hold, go to where the two fingers would be to find a throne, with the Coded Sword sitting there to be picked up.
How To Use The Coded Sword
The Coded Sword only requires 20 faith to wield, scaling exclusively from faith. This is a unique weapon as it only deals holy damage, instead of the usual holy damage on top of physical like other faith scaling weapons. This weapon comes with the unique skill Unblockable Blade and cannot be infused with other Ashes of War. Unblockable Blade costs 18 FP to cast and is true to its namesake, being able to attack through any shield.
This weapon’s weakness is also its strength in dealing only with holy damage. Should you be up against an enemy that is resistant to holy, this weapon won’t be very useful. Its skill is very useful as many enemies or other players fight with shields. This weapon is an excellent option for heavy faith builds but would have your character wholly lean into a limited number of elemental damage. The Coded Sword doesn’t have a high base damage, requiring most of its late-game damage to come from your faith stat.
