Earlier this month, Bethesda released a new update for Starfield. While the update was the game’s biggest yet, it was only available in Steam Beta. Now, however, the update has been officially released for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
After going live yesterday, Xbox players are jumping into the update for the very first time and checking out all it has to offer. Sure, there are massive upgrades to city maps and an extensive list of new gameplay options, but there’s also finally the ability to customize the interior of your ships, meaning you can design your ship however you see fit.
Starfield’s City Maps Continue To Impress As Players Discovers They Are Rendered In Real-Time
Starfield players just can’t get enough of the game’s new map system.
The new customization feature works in a similar fashion to the Outpost building mechanic. Place tables, chairs, decorations, and much more inside of your ship to make it exactly how you want. But working out how to do it can be a little tricky.
To start off, you’ll need to go into the ship building menu and place an “empty” habs ship module. In the habs tab, find one that you want to place and scroll through the list of options for that specific hab. Toward the end of the list you’ll notice that there are now “empty” habs with no interior decorations.
After you’ve placed an empty hab on your ship, head inside and you’ll see a panel on the wall of your ship with a “decorate” option. Interact with it and you’ll be greeted with an endless list of decorations to place down inside of your ship. But be warned, you need to have all of the required materials in your inventory to place each decoration.
Starfield Player Discovers New Storage Trick Thanks To Ship Decoration
Shortly after Starfield’s biggest update ever was released for PC and Xbox Series X|S, Reddit user Der_Zeitgeist took to the Starfield subreddit to share their new discovery. “Plopping down chests is an easy way to expand storage with the new ship decoration mode. Double the Frontier storage almost for free,” the user said.
This handy little trick is also completely free. As the user noted, the chest seen in the post below offers up to 450 storage and only costs 6 aluminium and 12 structural material, which are both relatively simple to obtain. The user also noted that “the chests onboard don’t count towards the ship’s mass, so there’s no loss in manoeuvrability like you would get from attaching regular cargo modules in the ship builder.”
The downside to this trick is that you’ll still need to store and take your items from the chests manually, as opposed to transferring them via the inventory menu. Nevertheless, it’s still a great little trick to use if you’re running low on ship cargo space.
