Starfield players can finally travel through the depths of space without having to be in the pilot seat thanks to a brand-new mod. While the mod does aim to add more immersion to players’ space travels, it’s unfortunately only available on PC via NexusMods at the time of writing this article.
Prior to Starfield’s launch last year, eagle-eyed fans noticed that a trailer for the game seemed to be teasing an auto-pilot mode. Unfortunately, it was never to be, and has become one of the many features that Starfield fans often beg Bethesda to add. But now, thanks to a brand-new mod that was released last month, PC players can finally add a new level of immersion to their space travels.

Starfield’s June Update Is Causing Fans To Review Bomb The Game On Steam
Starfield players continue to criticise Bethesda over Starfield’s newest update, with over 200 negative reviews in one day.
Earlier this month, Bethesda premiered the first trailer for Starfield’s upcoming Shattered Space DLC during the Xbox Games Showcase. The studio also shadow dropped a new update for Starfield that included the highly-anticipated release of Creation Kit, a new modding tool that allows modders to make use of the same development tools used by Bethesda.
While Todd Howard has stated that he wants the modding community to stay “really healthy,” fans took an instant displeasure with the new Creation Kit due to the overpriced mods included in it. But for those review bombing and boycotting the Creation Kit, NexusMods is still going strong with plenty of brand-new Starfield mods.
Starfield Fans Are Loving New Autopilot Mod
The mod, which is called Astrogate, was released on NexusMods on May 26th, but is just now getting love from the game’s subreddit.
“The boost to immersion is… completely insane. You really feel like you’re in your floating home drifting through space, living your life while waiting to reach your destination,” one user said on Reddit.
According to the mod’s official description, Astrogate gives the player more control over their spaceship by adding new features such as Supercruise, Autopilot, Inter-Subsystem Travel, and more.
The Supercruise feature allows players to travel through the galaxy at a speed of their choice. While the Autopilot works as you’d expect, it lets you travel through space without having to be in the pilot seat and can even be combined with Supercruise to achieve specifc speeds whilst you walk around your ship.
The mod’s creator states that the Autopilot feature has three different mods: Standard, which allows for traveling within a planet and its moons. Intersystem, which allows for traveling to a planet in another Sub-system. And Distance, which will make the player’s ship travel a specific distance in Light-seconds of your choosing and will stop once the distance is reached.
More details on the mod can be found over on NexusMods.
