Many gamers remember Roger Clark for his legendary portrayal of Arthur Morgan, the main protagonist in Red Dead Redemption 2. With his deep, commanding voice, he instilled life into this reckless desperado, giving us a glimpse of the old Wild West.
Recently, Clark had a sitdown with Gameology, during which he shared some of the juiciest tidbits from behind the scenes.
Today, Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered one of the best video game prequels, depicting John Marston’s life back when he was a full-blown criminal.
Unfortunately, despite its genius, the title did suffer from a few mistakes. One of the most notorious errors concerns Colm O’Driscoll, the leader of the RDR2’s notorious outlaw gang.
Sullying The Good O’Driscoll Name
With that, we came to Roger Clark and his interview. When asked what he regrets about Red Dead Redemption 2, the actor pointed out his pronunciation of Colm O’Driscoll’s name.
Specifically, Clark would repeatedly say “Colm” instead of “Colom.” The gang leader was of Irish origin, which is why the name sounds different.
The funniest thing is that the game director didn’t want to correct the actor. Instead, he even encouraged the mispronunciation.
He ran with the joke by creating a hilarious scene in which Sean Macguire is about to beat up Arthur Morgan for the repeated mistake.
The actor also explained how he prepared his voice for being burned alive, falling off the cliff, and coughing. As Clark explains, he had to do these tracks separately as it strained his vocal cords.
As for the motion capture scenes, Clark enjoyed everything involving the entire gang. For example, he simply loved the party scenes after rescuing Jack and Sean.
All in all, the interview will make you cackle like an old Wild West saloon patron, so we suggest you watch it.
