Once Human Studio Has One-Hour Feedback Meeting With Former Blizzard Dev
Former Blizzard Entertainment developer and security engineer, Jason Hall, previously worked on World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, and Starcraft 2, and the professional is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Heartbound studio Pirate Software and Director of Strategy at Offbrand Games. Hall has been very vocal recently on social media covering Once Human, and his latest post details the extensive feedback he gave to Starry Studio on gameplay.
Under Pirate Software’s official account on X, Hall revealed he had an hour-long meeting with the game’s developers and community manager to discuss “the character reset seasonal system and how it felt bad for me as a player…itemization, cosmetics, and world balance”. It was also highlighted how “incredibly receptive” the developers were to the feedback and Hall encouraged players to reach out with their own issues and concerns, saying “They are absolutely listening to you.”
Addressing the character reset seasonal system, Hall said “My take on resets is that optional season resets in games are a fun experience and great in games like Diablo or PoE but a mandatory reset for a new season feels terrible.” Hall continued, “I enjoy having the option to join a new season and reset or keep playing my character as-is in the non-seasonal content indefinitely.”
Concerning item drops, Hall called out that they couldn’t be repaired in Once Human, which “immediately made me feel less attached to them”. Cosmetics were also touched on and Hall stated he would prefer to have them account-wide instead of per character.
The official X account for Once Human was prompt to respond to Hall’s feedback post, thanking him for taking the time to provide detailed feedback and confirming cosmetics would be available account-wide by August. Addressing the fans, or “Metas”, personally, the devs said, “We look forward to making Once Human better with your company!”
