The University of Miami’s football team is 6-0 and ranked No. 6 in the nation so there’s a ton of attention on head coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes.
Let’s not forget that Jim Larranaga has had quite a great run with Miami men’s hoops, though. Last season was a down year, which saw the Hurricanes go 15-17, but Miami made the Final Four two seasons ago.
Larranaga’s squad just got another big win, but this time it came on the recruiting trail. Ben Ahmed, a four-star center from Putnam, Conn., has committed to the Hurricanes, per Christopher Stock of 247Sports. He chose them over Cincinnati and Xavier, though he does have a few other offers to his name.
Ahmed, who checks in at 6-foot-9 and 300 pounds, took an official visit to Miami last weekend. That visit was what opened his mind to making a commitment, per 247Sports.
“It was the relationship I had with the coaches on that visit,” Ahmed told 247Sports regarding his decision-making process. “I had a great relationship with the head coach, Coach L, coach Bill (Courtney), the whole coaching staff and the players. It just felt like I’ve been there for like a year or two. I just enjoyed that visit.”
