How we graded Big Blue in Week 5 win over Seahawks

Outside of a few very big negatives, this was a very solid game from the offense.

As a result, it makes sense to hone in on the negatives first. The Giants were unable to score after having four plays from inside of the five-yard line and with two plays from the one-yard line. To make matters worse, Eric Gray fumbled on the fourth down attempt and the Seahawks returned it for a touchdown resulting in a 14-point swing.

There were also a few big drops that would have extended drives and probably have cemented the victory earlier. Finally, the Giants went three-and-out and only wasted 20 seconds and two timeouts on their final drive before the two-minute warning. This gave the Seahawks a chance to win or tie the game.

Now for the positives. Daniel Jones played arguably his best game of the season and this was with Malik Nabers out. He finished with 257 passing yards and two touchdowns but the stats do not fully tell the story as he made a lot of huge plays, especially on third downs.

Jones’ receivers also stepped up to the plate. The longest-tenured of the group, Darius Slayton, took on the biggest load with Nabers out as he caught eight of his 11 targets for 122 yards and a touchdown.

The Giants were also very successful running the ball as they totaled 175 yards while averaging 5.1 yards per carry doing it. Tyrone Tracy Jr. was responsible for the bulk of the production as he rushed for 129 yards while averaging 7.2 yards per tote.
