How To Solve The Ginger Island Mermaid Puzzle In Stardew Valley

Just like during the Night Market , once you reach Ginger Island Stardew Valley‘s Mermaid offers up another musical puzzle. This time, solving it wins you 5 Golden Walnut s, used to unlock further areas and prizes on the island.

To visit her, you’ll need to first collect the 50 Golden Walnuts required to unlock her location on the southeast shore.

Repairing the Beach Resort clears rubbish on the eastern side of the screen. Walk off-screen, and you’ll reach a star-shaped beach with the Mermaid’s rock and the Pirate Cove.

Where Is The Mermaid On Ginger Island?

Visit this beach on a rainy day and the Mermaid will be hanging out on the rock to the southeast. Just like before, you’ll need to play her song to solve the puzzle.

Not very creative, but hey, I’m sure she’s busy. However, this time, there are two teeny complications:

1. She won’t play the song for you
2. Nothing on the beach makes music

If you can play her song anyway, the Mermaid rewards you with 5 Golden Walnuts.

Building Flute Blocks

To play her song, you’ll need to build five Flute Blocks. When you run near one of these blocks, it will play a predetermined tone.

Once you reach 6 Friendship Hearts with her, give her a visit. Entering her house triggers the cutscene in which she’ll give you the Flute Block and Drum Block recipes.

Play The Mermaid’s Song

To play the Mermaid’s song, put your Flute Blocks down beside each of the small piles of stone along the beach’s southern shore. These stones are the “code” to this puzzle.

When you put it down, a Flute Block’s tone begins at 1. Each time you activate a Flute Block, its tone goes up by 1.

The number of stones in these piles reveals the correct tone to which each Flute Block ought to be tuned. Small stones count as one step, while the big ones count as five. For example, the first pile has two small stones; the correct tone is 2, requiring one activation.

Since the Flute Blocks start on 1, activate the Flute Blocks one less time than the stones indicate. If you activate them a number of times equal to the stones’ code, you’ll overshoot—an easy mistake!

After tuning your Flute Blocks, run past them from left to right. If you play her song correctly, the Mermaid will wave and reward you with 5 Golden Walnuts!
