After months of silence, Gina Carano has given a huge update about her lawsuit against Disney.
Since transitioning to the big screen after her days competing in mixed martial arts, Carano has found much success. One of the pillars of women’s MMA has featured in beloved movies and TV shows throughout her acting career, but it hasn’t all gone smoothly for the 42-year-old.
Earlier this year, Elon Musk and his social media platform X sided with Gina Carano in her feud with Disney. Musk encouraged Carano to open a lawsuit against the entertainment powerhouse for the mistreatment she recieved from the company.
Today, months after launching her lawsuit, the actress has revealed yet another major victory she earned during the case.
“After the judge DENIED Disney’s request to DISMISS my case, Disney requested permission to immediately appeal that decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and delay all discovery while that appeal takes place.” Carano told her followers on X.
“Yesterday, October 16th, 2024, we learned that the Judge DENIED Disney’s usual request.”
“I am obviously very pleased with the opportunity to keep moving forward with the judicial process and into discovery.”
“While I wish this was not necessary as it is not my desire to be in this battle in court, I will not shrink away from it because it is hard or uncomfortable.”
Gina Carano has already claimed several wins in the case and is grateful for everybody that is taking her case seriously.
As she continues to do, Carano took the time to thank Elon Musk and those around her for their support.
“Again, a huge thanks to ALL of you who have shown me support daily, to my incredible lawyers, and to Elon Musk and the people at X for the opportunity in continuing this lawsuit and seeking justice.”
