Key Takeaways
- New FromSoftware job listings hint at a possible new Armored Core project or DLC.
- This is because the developer is seeking someone who has expertise in mecha design.
- An earlier job listing from this year was also looking for to work with character and robot modeling.
FromSoftware, the renowned developer behind games like Elden Ring, has recently posted several job listings on its career page.
These openings are for new projects, and as PSU reported (via The Gamer), it seems a new Armored Core project may be in the works at the Japanese game developer.
This is because one job posting, in particular, stands out. The role of character designer specifically mentions concept art for characters, creatures, and — most intriguingly — mecha. This is a big hint, as FromSoftware’s Armored Core series is famously centred around giant robots.
Given the success of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, it’s not a huge leap to speculate that the company might be planning a new instalment or even DLC.
The fact that this job description explicitly asks for “expertise in mecha design” solidifies the likelihood of an Armored Core project.
The listing even states, “People with expertise in mecha design are welcome,” and emphasises the need to “understand the concept of the game and the role of the characters and mecha.”
Mecha Fans Have Reason to Rejoice
While FromSoftware hasn’t confirmed what specific projects are in development, we can rule out a few possibilities. CEO Hidetaka Miyazaki has already mentioned that a new Elden Ring or Dark Souls game isn’t on the table for now.
Earlier this year, in July, FromSoftware was also recruiting for a character modeller position, specifically for “modeling and texturing characters or robots.” This further supports the idea that a new mecha-focused game or DLC could be in the pipeline.
Though we don’t have official confirmation yet, it seems fans of the Armored Core series have every reason to anticipate more mecha action soon.
