Ryan Garcia cooked promoter Eddie Hearn, saying that he’s a “fake” for “turning his back” on Devin Haney after his loss to him on April 20th. Garcia feels that the Matchroom promoter, Hearn, is a “phony” for abandoning Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) after he was beaten. He thinks that was low.
Ryan doesn’t like how Hearn was saying that he was all spaced out, looking inside the ring for the Haney fight. He doesn’t understand how he would be spaced out of looking like he was “cracked out” if he was able to dominate Haney the way that he did at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“Eddie Hearn was like, ‘Ryan Garcia was looking crazy in the ring before the fight.’ You can watch the fight, you stupid,” said Ryan Garcia on social media, talking about his fight against Devin Haney on April 20th. “I was literally normal.”
To be fair, Ryan did look a little unhinged during the run-up to the fight with Haney, but in the ring during the fight. He was 100% dialed in during the actual contest, and we saw that clearly with the way he shook Haney with a left hook to the jaw in the first round. Haney never recovered from the lightning quick left from Ryan.
“If I was that spaced out in the ring, how was I able to land a perfect counter left hook in front of his jaw? You stupid, Eddie Hearn. You stupid idiot. ‘Oh, Ryan was cracked out in the ring.’ I’m tired of Eddie Hearn. This dude is a phony,” said Garcis.
Ryan shouldn’t take Hearn seriously because he might have been just flapping his gums to have something to talk about because his former fighter, Haney, really got worked over. All the hard work that Hearn put into him went out the window.
After that loss, you could understand why Hearn would want to abandon the sinking Haney ship before it went down. He’s useless now. Haney’s career has bottomed out, and it will not be hauled back to the surface with the help of Hearn.
He’s not going to want to sign Haney and then do an expensive, time-consuming rebuild job on him that could take two years and involve four or five confidence builders. Haney isn’t a big enough draw.
“You got to question what Eddie Hearn said. He said, ‘I was looking at Ryan, and he was really out of shape.’ I had a six-pack, and I was ready to go. I came in heavy. I drank a bunch of fluids and ate a lot. I usually don’t.
“I don’t know how he gains so much weight. He went from 140 to 158. I was 156. Eddie Hearn said, ‘He was twitching and looking everywhere.’ No, I was not. Watch the fight. I was not cracked. How can I fight cracked out like that?” said Garcia.
Many fans wonder how Haney gains so much weight after rehydrating from his fights, but the weight manipulation that goes on in the sport needs to have rules in place to prevent this kind of thing. There needs to be secondary weight checks on the night of the fight to ensure fighters don’t rehydrate more than 10 lbs because it’s dangerous to have someone rehydrate 20+ lbs and use their size to win. It’s not only unfair, but it can be life-threatening for their opponents.
“If you’re really cracked out on drugs, how can you fight in front of millions of people and fight for 12 rounds? These people are stupid. I wish I could see Eddie Hearn and say, ‘Are you stupid? Your fighter didn’t fight good, and he wasn’t even your fighter at the time. Then when he got beat, you turned your back on him. You’re a fake phony. F*** you, Eddie Hearn,” said Garcia.
All the acting that Ryan did to make Haney think he was crazy might have tricked Hearn as well, and he thought he was off his gourd. A lot of people thought Garcia was either showing signs of early schizophrenia or on drugs.
“Forget you, Eddie Hearn, for trying to create this narrative that I was cracked out before the fight. You’re just an idiot. It’s a curse on him because you were trying to lie on me so many times. Now look at your promotion,” said Ryan.
Again, we don’t know what Hearn’s goal was for talking because he might have been trying to create interest in the fight by spinning a few tall tales.
