Diablo 4: How To Unlock the Artificer’s Pit | Vessel of Hatred

The Pit is in Diablo 4 an endgame dungeon variant similar to the Greater Rifts (GRs) from Diablo 3. It features a tier-based system, only available after reaching level 60, with 150 levels of increasing difficulty as you progress through each tier. 

Completing The Pit provides valuable rewards, including the highly sought-after Glyph upgrades for your Paragon boards. 

My guide will help you unlock the Artificer’s Pit, also known simply as The Pit, in the newly released Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4. There have been some changes with the expansion, and I’m here to walk you through it. 

How To Unlock the Artificer’s Pit | Vessel of Hatred

To unlock The Pit, all you need to do is hit level 60 with your character. Keep in mind, this is the max level before Paragon levels come into play. Once you reach level 60, you’ll automatically receive a quest called Pit of the Artificer.

From there, just head over to Cerrigar to turn in the quest, and boom! The Pit will be unlocked for you from Tier 1 to 20. The main update here is that you now have to reach level 60 to get the quest. 

You can collect Artificer’s Stones through various endgame activities like Helltide events, World Bosses, Legion Events, Nightmare Dungeons, and Whisper Bounties. You’ll need three Artificer’s Stones to activate the Artificer’s Obelisk in Cerrigar, the main town of Scosglen, which opens the portal to The Pit.

Note: Your progression in The Pit is shared across all characters in the same realm.

Rewards in The Pit & Additional Info

Completing a run in The Pit offers the following rewards:

• Ancestral Legendary Items
• Murmuring Obols
• Paragon Glyph and Glyph upgrade chances

At the end of a Pit run, you can upgrade your Glyphs with three attempts. If you didn’t die during the run, you’ll receive a bonus attempt! The likelihood of a successful upgrade depends on the Glyph’s current rank and the Pit tier completed. For instance, completing a Pit tier 10 levels higher than your Glyph’s rank guarantees an upgrade.
