A Deep Rock Galactic player got more than they bargained for this week when they opted to email Ghost Ship Games and challenge the developers’ price point for one of its recent DLC packs.
Back in June, Ghost Ship Games released a brand-new DLC pack known as ‘Order of the Deep’. Included in this pack was nothing more than a handful of cosmetic items, with the developer even noting on the DLC’s Steam page that the pack was cosmetic only and would offer players no gameplay advantage…but it would make you look cool.
Unlike previous DLC packs, this one was a little more pricey. For those based in the US, you’d need to pay $10 if you wanted to get the included cosmetic items, whereas those in the UK would need to pay £8.99. The list of items included in the pack can be found below:
- The ‘Order of the Deep’ Armor Framework for all four classes
- The ‘Order of the Deep’ Armor Paintjob for all other armor sets
- The ‘Order of the Deep’ Weapon Paintjob
- The ‘Order of the Deep’ Pickaxe Paintjob
- The ‘Order of the Deep’ Bosco Framework (with/without helmet)
- The ‘Order of the Deep’ Bosco Paintjob
Despite the fact that this DLC is completely optional and, really, not even that expensive, one user opted to email Ghost Ship Games and question the price point. The response they received was hilariously sassy.
“Yes, the $10 pricing on the Order of the Deep DLC is intentional,” Aaron Hathaway from Ghost Ship Games responded. “If you already have 8 dollars saved up, I would suggest asking friends or family for 2 dollars. Then you will have 10 dollars!”
But the sassiness doesn’t stop there either, because Aaron returned to the Reddit thread shortly after it was posted and said, “Hey there! Aaron again. You brought up some great points in this thread, and I’m convinced. Here’s a free Steam key for the DLC. Nobody else take it please.” He then included a Steam key for the Order of the Deep DLC in his comment, knowing full well that it would be redeemed by somebody else before the original user got to it.
Other users felt as though Aaron’s response was justified, with one user saying it was “the most entitled post ” they’ve ever seen on the subreddit. “While DLCs getting more expensive could be a bad thing, if theres any devs that deserve more money for their game it is 100% the devs at GSG,” another user said.
It looks like this user didn’t quite get the response they were hoping for from fellow players.
