Daniel Jones hosts Giants teammates for workouts in North Carolina

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones continues to take a page out of Eli Manning’s playbook.

Like Manning, who frequently gathered his teammates for summer workouts in New Jersey or at Duke, Jones has kept that tradition going. And as anticipated, he gathered a group down in North Carolina this week.

Daniel Jones has his receivers out in North Carolina this week. This has become an annual tradition, much like Eli Manning had his guys come to Duke.

Despite what some of the comments would have you believe, off-field team bonding is incredibly important to a team’s on-field success. The better a quarterback knows his receivers and vice versa, the easier it will be for them to anticipate what the other is going to do next —  which is vital during a game when an audible is called or when something forces the play to change.

Last season’s offensive line issues saw three different quarterbacks struggle to make any headway. Any bond created during the offseason was shattered by the continual injuries suffered by all three quarterbacks.

The Giants have a ton of work to do if they want to be competitive this season. Keeping this tradition not only shows his teammates that he’s still committed to this team, but it is Jones’ way of building a fresh foundation for his receiving corps.

Even with this tradition, Jones has a lot to prove this season. The entire team does. These bonding activities are crucial, but they are not the only things that need to happen. Everyone needs to be on the same page, and everyone must execute to the best of their ability.

So while it’s good to see Jones keeping up with tradition, it will be better to see the Giants win this season.
