Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is planning to return to the octagon as soon as he secures a date with the fight promotion.
McGregor was scheduled to face Michael Chandler in the UFC 303 main event but pulled out of the fight due to an injured toe. The fight promotion initially planned to reschedule to matchup but Chandler has been booked to face former lightweight champion Charles Olivera at UFC 309 on Nov, 1.
McGregor would like to face Chandler in his return but has been offered a ‘few names’ since Chandler has a fight booked.
“I’m looking for the date. I’d like to square it away with Michael Chandler. I’d like to get Chandler in,” McGregor told The Schmo. “We’ve had beef. It’s not settled. He has a match scheduled. I’d like to fight maybe before that, or before he’s recovered and whatnot. There’s a few names on the line at the moment. There’s a few names being discussed.”
When McGregor gets back inside the cage and is competing again, there are two names that he considers a ‘must’ to happen. ‘The Notorious’ wants a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz and a fourth fight against Dustin Poirier.
“Both of them. Both is a must for sure,” McGregor said. “Dustin is not settled. It’s one-one, and one. And the Diaz one is also one-one. Two blockbuster matches. I’m excited to get them locked in.”
