Concord Players Frustrated by 8-Minute Matchmaking Wait Times

Concord, the new first-person hero shooter developed by Firewalk Studios, launched on July 18 this year. Unfortunately, the game has faced challenges right from the start. As the market is already crowded with similar games, and Concord is struggling to maintain even a modest player base.

The low player numbers have led to painfully long matchmaking times. Players are finding themselves waiting as long as eight minutes just to get into a game.

The root of the problem lies in the game’s player count, which barely reaches triple digits at any given time on Steam. For a multiplayer-focused title, this is a serious issue.

As noted by The Gamer, discussions on Reddit highlight Concord players’ frustrations. Many users report waiting at least eight minutes, even with crossplay enabled. This is an unusually long time for a game that depends on quick, dynamic matches.

Those who manage to enter a match can consider themselves lucky. Some players are encountering a “matchmaking request timed out” error after waiting for nine minutes, effectively preventing them from playing at all.

Concord Fails To Find Its Audience

Back in July, Concord was already clearly facing an uphill battle. The PlayStation shooter failed to break into the top 750 most wishlisted titles on Steam, signaling trouble even before its release.

The trailer for Concord also struggled to gain traction, being heavily outperformed by the trailer for Astro Bot.

Adding to the game’s woes, one of the characters was accused of being copied from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, further damaging its reputation. Despite these challenges, a small group of dedicated fans continues to enjoy Concord.

Their persistence in playing and voicing concerns about matchmaking issues shows they still care about the game.

However, it’s unfortunate that these fans who paid $40 for Concord aren’t able to fully enjoy their experience due to the low player count.

While the game still has a core group of supporters, the road ahead looks challenging for Firewalk Studios.
