To celebrate FromSoft’s recent Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launch and crown grab, CD Projekt designed an amazing illustration piece that featured Geralt himself defeating Mohg and journeying into the Land of Shadow. The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion held the title for the last eight years for being the best-reviewed expansion for a role-playing game, that was until Erdtree showed up.
Totally unbothered by this and wanting to show extra support for Elden Ring’s DLC success, the studio also showcased a live view of CD Projekt staff as they prepared themselves for Shadow of the Erdtree in a wholesome tribute.

We Like Studios Supporting Other Studios
The long-standing record has finally been broken as The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion has officially been overtaken by Shadow of the Erdtree. On Twitter/X, CD Projekt posted a congratulations to FromSoft on grabbing the title from them by saying, “Elden Ring gets to wear that crown now. Congratulations to the entire team at FromSoftware on their stellar work!” with a gorgeous piece of Witcher art made by the talented CD team.
Not done there, CD Projekt went further by gathering together screenshots of 16 of its developers as they patiently waited to play the now highly acclaimed DLC. “Here’s a live view of REDs this week trying to prepare for Shadow of the Erdtree” read the caption from The Witcher’s official account. It looks like it wasn’t only fans champing at the bit to get in on the Erdtree action, but more than anything, it’s incredible to witness studios actually supporting each other, especially in these trying times.
Philipp Weber, the narrative director of the new Witcher saga and who was also the quest designer on Blood and Wine, got in on the action as well to give a big thumbs up to FromSoft too. “If any game had to do it, I’m happy it’s Elden Ring,” Weber said in a tweet. “I can’t wait to start the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, so it’s high time I finish leveling up my new character to be ready!”
While Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has only been out for a few days, it seems as though some returning players are finding it super difficult to beat some bosses due to unbalancing issues. Regardless, the DLC is sitting at a score of 95 on Metacritic for the PS5, so it looks as though the difficulty factor isn’t putting most fans off.
