Meanwhile, Kelly was the darling of the submission scene. The American had three consecutive victories in ONE, including securing the inaugural crown over her rival Jessa Khan. The showdown at ONE Fight Night 24 was set to be her toughest test to date.
In that 10-minute affair, Bastos and Kelly both performed well. They were aggressive and always seeking a better position or a submission. There were no lulls in action. In the end, it was Bastos’ leg lock attempts that secured her the narrow victory.
Kelly wanted an immediate rematch, and that is what she now has. Driven by their last meeting and equipped with first-hand knowledge of each other, the rematch is a compelling arc of the two best atomweight submission stars on the planet. It is a title tilt that will showcase the art of jiu-jitsu and the Fight IQ of both women.
