“The Prince” has issued a statement …
Amir Albazi suffered his first Ultimate Fighting Championship loss at UFC Edmonton last night (Sat., Nov. 2, 2024). He was dominated by former two-time Flyweight champion Brandon Moreno for five rounds, losing a unanimous decision from inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This morning, after spending the night in the hospital, Albazi took to his social media to react to his disappointing loss.
“It wasn’t my night last night, but this is part of life- you win some; you lose some,” Albazi said on Instagram. “All respect to Brandon Moreno, he was the better man. I’ll be back, I promise. I’ll be back on that horse and keep improving, keep getting better. You guys will see me soon. Thank you for the support.”
Losing isn’t something Albazi is used to, as this was only his second loss of his 19-fight career and his lone UFC defeat. His loss at UFC Edmonton snapped his six-fight winning streak in which Albazi racked up five victories inside UFC, including wins over Kai Kara-France and Alessandro Costa.
While the loss was no doubt disappointing, Albazi must have been happy even to have fought as he dealt with potentially life-altering injuries.
