In need of a win to keep their World Series hopes alive, the Yankees got off to a powerful start in Game 5 on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
Aaron Judge, who entered the game 2-for-15 in this series, launched his first career World Series homer off Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty in the first inning — a two-run shot following a Juan Soto walk. Jazz Chisholm Jr. followed with a homer of his own as the Yanks recorded back-to-back homers for the fifth time in their World Series history.
It was enough for a 3-0 lead for the Yankees, who had been 0-for-13 (with five walks and a reached-on-error) in the first inning prior to that.
