Donald Trump is no stranger to UFC events.
The decision to attend the upcoming UFC 309: “Jones vs. Miocic” pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza was hinging on his ability to win the 2024 presidential election. Now that Trump has defeated Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, he’s expected to “go as President” on Nov. 16 when he returns to Madison Square Garden in New York.
“You know Bo Nickal? He’s a great fighter,” Trump told Joe Rogan during his pre-election “Experience.”
“Yeah, I love Bo Nickal,” Rogan replied.
“How’s he going to do? I think he’s terrific,” Trump added. “He was like, almost undefeated in college.”
“He’s a fantastic wrestler and one of the best mixed martial artists,” Rogan said. “He’s fighting at Madison Square Garden in November.”
“Ooooh, that’s gonna be after the election,” Trump replied. “So I’ll either go as President or I’ll be depressed and I won’t bother going.”
Expect security to be at an all-time high after this.
UFC 309 will be headlined by the heavyweight title fight between current 265-pound champion Jon Jones and former 265-pound titleholder Stipe Miocic. Elsewhere on the card, Bo Nickal returns to face middleweight veteran Paul Craig.
“Just voted for the first time, and I’m feeling like a proud American!” Jones wrote on election night. “Huge thanks to Joe Rogan and Donald Trump for mentioning me in your last podcast. Honored to be considered one of the best fighters on the planet among such fierce competition. To all my fellow Americans, especially the young ones: get out there and vote! It’s your voice, your power — let’s use it!”
