Stats Perform is bringing a greater spotlight to athletes, students and stories at Historically Black Colleges and Universities through a partnership with Urban Edge Network. Included in the 2024 college football season are both HBCU FCS Player and Team of the Week honors and a season-ending HBCU FCS National Player of the Year Award, each presented by HBCU+.
South Carolina State’s Eric Phoenix and the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats have been selected as the HBCU+ National Player and Team of the Week, respectively, for FCS college football games in Week 10 this past weekend.

National Player of the Week
Eric Phoenix, South Carolina State, QB, Grad, 6-3, 210, Savannah, Georgia
Phoenix directed South Caroline State to a 24-21 win over No. 19 North Carolina Central and right into first place in the MEAC. He completed 26 of 36 pass attempts for 321 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, and had 13 carries for 60 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown. The Bulldogs (6-2) have won five straight games.

National Team of the Week
Bethune-Cookman (24-21 win over Grambling State)
The Wildcats scored the final 17 points of the third quarter to reverse a 21-7 deficit and go on to claim their second win. Freshman Dennis Palmer scored his first career touchdown on a 42-yard run to end the third, giving coach Raymond Woodie Jr.’s squad its first lead. Caleb Blake and Joshua Thornhill had interceptions in the fourth to help finish off the SWAC victory on Senior Day.
