The New York Liberty and former Oregon Duck Sabrina Ionescu are just one win away from a WNBA title.
Following a dramatic Game 3 comeback that saw Ionescu hit the game-winning 3-pointer with just seconds remaining to steal a win on the road, the Liberty are one win away from their first league title in franchise history.
After finishing sixth in the regular-season MVP voting, Ionescu has been equally effective in the playoffs, scoring 19 points, dishing out five assists and hauling in five rebounds per game in nine games.
Ionescu finished her Oregon career in 2020 and wasn’t able to finish a dream season that ended just before the NCAA Tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She became the first player (male or female) in NCAA history with 2,000 career points, rebounds and assists, and she was the NCAA’s all-time leader in triple doubles when she graduated in Eugene.
She was Oregon’s all-time leader in points, assists, 3-point field goals and double figure scoring games when she graduated as well.
Former Duck Nyara Sabally is also a key contributor for the Liberty, averaging 3.3 points per game across nearly nine minutes a game along with 2.7 rebounds.
