Former two-time women’s bantamweight champion and two-division UFC titleholder Amanda Nunes may have retired in July 2023, but her presence is still felt.
Following her UFC 307 championship win over Raquel Pennington to recaptured the women’s 135-pound title, Julianna Peña called out Nunes for a trilogy fight. Peña defeated Nunes at UFC 271 in December 2021 to win the women’s bantamweight title the first time. Nunes utterly dominated Peña in the rematch at UFC 277.
Peña wasn’t the only bantamweight calling out Nunes following UFC 307. Two-time Olympic gold medalist and second-ranked contender Kayla Harrison said she wanted to be the one to welcome Nunes back if she decides to return during the event’s post-fight press conference.
Nunes took to social media with a response to the call outs telling UFC CEO Dana White to call her. “Please call me. I miss you so much,” she said in an Instagram video.

During Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series Post-fight Press Conference, White reacted to Nunes teasing a possible return to the octagon.
“She looks good. She looks great. She looks like she’s still in shape. You know where her head’s at and I love that about her,” White said about Nunes. “She’s keeping an eye on who wins the title next. I think she’s teasing that she might be interested in coming back.”
“I love Amanda Nunes. I have an incredible relationship with her,” White continued. “I would absolutely love to see her come back.”
