The New York Giants faced off against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field in Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season.
The Giants entered the game with a 1-3 record and were playing without star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who was still in the concussion protocol, and their top running back, Devin Singletary (groin). They were missed but their understudies stepped up and made statements.
The NFC West-leading Seahawks (3-1) had their full complement of offensive weapons with Geno Smith under center and were raring to go. Daniel Jones, Darius Slayton, Dexter Lawrence and the Giants’ defense had other plans.
Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Final | |

Seahawks | 7 | 3 | 3 | 7 | 20 |
- The Giants led in all major categories: total yards (420-333), first downs (24-17), and time of possession (37:22-22:38).
- The Giants had seven sacks on Geno Smith and only allowed three on Daniel Jones. They had just two accepted penalties for a total of 20 yards. The Seahawks committed six for a total of 30 yards.
- The Giants rushed for 175 yards with their top rusher, Devin Singletary, inactive due to a groin injury.
Isaiah Simmons blocked Jason Myers’ potential game-tying field goal attempt with 55 seconds remaining. The loose ball was scooped up by Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who raced 60 yards to paydirt with the clinching score.
- QB Daniel Jones played with reckless abandon completing 23 of 34 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns for a 109.6 QB rating. He also ran for 38 yards and looked like the Jones of old, extending plays and gritting it out.
- Rookie RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. played up to his billing rushing for 129 yards on 18 carries, breaking tackle after tackle.
- WR Darius Slayton picked up the slack in Nabers’ absence grabbing eight of his 11 targets for 122 yards and a score.
- NT Dexter Lawrence sealed the game with a sack and finished with four tackles (two for a loss), four QB hits, and 3.0 sacks.
There were no known injuries during or after the game. This is not a misprint.
Linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux left the game for one play but was it really an injury? It was conveniently timed and he quickly returned.
Head coach Brian Daboll will hold a Zoom call with the team’s beat writers on Monday afternoon before a few players are also made available.
Big Blue will return to practice on Wednesday ahead of a Week 6 game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, November 13 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET.
