Serhii Bohachuk has been added to the Usyk-Fury II card on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will face an opponent still to be determined, promoter Tom Loeffler announced Saturday.
The Ukrainian junior middleweight is coming off close, majority decision loss to Vergil Ortiz Jr. last month, dropping the unbeaten fighter twice before losing on two scorecards. Prior to that, Bohachuk had won the WBC interim title at 154 pounds with a unanimous decision win over Brian Mendoza in March.
Not breaking, but news nevertheless…
Tom Loeffler confirmed that Serhii Bohachuk will return to the ring Dec. 21 on #UsykFury2 undercard in Riyadh.
News comes as Bohachuk was floated by Matchroom as potential next opp for Boots Ennis in Nov, which obv. is no longer in play.— Jake Donovan (@JakeNDaBox) September 1, 2024
Prior to the announcement, the 29-year-old Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) had been floated as a potential opponent for Jaron “Boots” Ennis, should the Philadelphia based boxer decide to vacate the IBF welterweight title and move up in weight. Eddie Hearn, who promotes Ennis, told IFL that he had reached out to Bohachuk’s team to inquire about the fight as Ennis weighed his options ahead of a purse bid for a mandatory defense against Karen Chukhadzhian awaited him this week.
Requests for comment from Loeffler and Bohachuk have not yet been responded to.
