As you make your way through the Pagoda Region in Black Myth Wukong, you’ll encounter several challenges that will likely make your blood boil. You’ll encounter one of the region’s captains, have to deal with an irritating health drain curse that plagues the area, and likely fall to your death more times than you would like.
If you’re tired of this area and want desperately to move on, you can, provided you can beat the boss at the end of this area, Captain Wise-Voice.
This is a tough boss fight that requires a keen understanding of their moveset and where their weak spot is, but with this guide, you’ll be able to take them down in a flash.
Where is Captain Wise Voice?
Captain Wise Voice is located at the top of the Pagoda Region, which is an area that has several levels that players will need to ascend.
Eventually, you will arrive at the top and will be able to enter the Mani Wheel. Be sure to rest at the Mani Wheel Shrine before heading in, because as soon as you step through that door, the fight begins.
How To Prepare For Captain Wise Voice
To prepare for the fight against Captain Wise Voice, there are several general tips I would suggest, which are as follows:
Then, for more specific things that will help in this fight, I would first suggest that you stock up on Shock-Quelling Powder , as this boss has several powerful lightning attacks.
Plus, I would also suggest going out of your way to get the Wind Tamer vessel in Chapter Two, as this added defense will be a godsend in this fight, especially if you get caught in their grab attack.
How To Defeat Captain Wise Voice
This battle begins with a big light show where Captain Wise Voice will shoot out a series of erratic lasers, which you can largely ignore, but watch out for the final laser, which will deal decent damage if you don’t avoid it. This initial exchange can be avoided if you use the Immobilization spell immediately.
Once this initial exchange ends, you will want to focus solely on the Captain’s right foot. This will deal pitiful damage, but if you deal enough big blows, the Captain will fall, and you’ll be able to attack their golden orb head.
The Golden Sphere is this enemy’s weak spot, so make the most of these moments where you break their posture, and also, try to Immobilise them when their head is dipped for some bonus weak spot damage.
During this first stage of the fight, the boss will also let out a scream that will essentially initiate the health drain curse you have been battling the entire time you have spent on Pagoda. It’s a cross you must bear, which means you must be able to dodge their attacks consistently.
By this point, you should dealt enough damage to take out their leg, and their head will lower, allowing you to deal some big damage. Try to make the most of these moments, as your damage output here needs to be high.
When their head is dipped, don’t use any heavy attacks until they are just about to get up. This is because if you do this right away, they will bounce back to their feet immediately.
After they get up, they usually use one of two lightning-based attacks. The first is a wild laser attack that moves side to side as they flail their heads. Then, they finish this off with a lightning strip along the ground. Just keep moving and focus on avoiding the laser, and you should be fine.
The other lightning attack is much easier to avoid. During this attack, the Captain will become invulnerable, and they will cast a series of AOE lightning circles around the arena. These are easily avoided by walking around and occupying the empty spaces between, and if you happen to be standing in one, just pop a dodge roll if needed.
The only thing you need to worry about is towards the end of this move. The floor will turn yellow and slowly change to red. When it goes bright red, this means they are about to strike, so pop a dodge right at this moment to make it through this section unscathed.
They will generally cycle through this moveset until the battle ends. But there is one more thing you really need to be on the lookout for. They will rock back onto their hind legs and their hands will glow yellow, and this is your sign to prepare yourself.
You’ll need to dodge the attack that comes next, or you’ll be caught up in an inescapable animation, and this attack will kill you if you aren’t on full HP, so if you don’t nail this, chances are you’ll need to start from scratch.
Rewards For Defeating Captain Wise Voice
If you manage to defeat the Captain Wise Voice, you will earn the following rewards for your efforts:
- 1583x Will
- 2x Refined Iron Sand
- Mind Core
- The Spirit of Captain Wise Voice
The real reward here is finally getting out of the living hell that was the Pagoda region, but gaining the Spirit of Captain Wise Voice will help you later when completing the Prisoner Quest.
But you’ll need to beat all the Captains in this chapter to reap the rewards of that particular questline.
