As you travel from the warm climate of the Yellow Wind Ridge to the frigid New West, you’ll find that Black Myth Wukong steps things up in terms of difficulty, offering several new ways to frustrate and challenge the player.
You’ll need to take down intimidating dragons, brave the elements, and when you get to the Pagoda region, you’ll also need to deal with a rather irritating curse mechanic.
However, these are all minor inconveniences compared to the bosses that await you in the Pagoda region. The player will face up against four different captains of this realm, and the first many players will face off against is Captain Lotus-Vision.
A tough boss who uses a series of magic lasers or projectiles to put you in your place. However, many bosses have tried and failed to this point, so there is no reason we can’t take down this new challenger as well.
Where Is Captain Lotus-Vision?
Captain Lotus-Vision is a boss that is located nearest to the Upper Pagoda Shrine. Once players have rested at this shrine, if they take a walk backward and peer over the ledge, they will see a red roof below leading to an area of a boss awaiting you and standing before an army of inanimate minions.
Be sure to hop on the roof to take as little fall damage as you can. But as soon as you enter the battlefield, the fight is on.
How To Prepare For Captain Lotus-Vision
The first thing you must understand when taking on this fight is the health drain mechanic within the Pagoda Region. You’ll have noticed that every so often, when in this area, your character’s eyes will turn red, and your health will drain down to 50%.
This is Black Myth Wukong’s cute little way of reminding you that this is a game that likes to challenge and frustrate you.
What you’ll want to do here is wait around at the Upper Pagoda Keeper Shrine until this curse has been lifted. For those unaware, this effectively runs on a 1.5-minute timer. So, as soon as your vision changes to normal, rest at the Shrine and hop down to the battleground below.
As for your loadout, there’s nothing all that specific you can do to protect yourself from the onslaught of lasers that Captain Lotus Vision will fire at you. But you can make yourself as strong and agile as possible.
I would suggest strong weapons and armor like the Ochre Armor Set and the Loongwreathe Staff for this fight, and I would also suggest the Wandering Wight Spirit and Agate Jar Curio for added defense.
Then, as for medicines and buffs, If you have anything that can increase your stamina, that would be ideal for this fight, as being able to dodge frequently is pivotal if you want to stay alive during this encounter.
How To Beat Captain Lotus-Vision
I’ll be frank with you; the Captain Lotus Vision Fight is a cheap one where doing all the right things will not necessarily guarantee success, as it’s not the best-designed fight within the game, as there are a lot of unfair stunlocks, hardly any clear telegraphs before attacks, and plenty of attacks that can one-shot you.
However, if you know the choreography of this fight, you give yourself the best chance.
The fight will begin with the Captain using his triple magic projectile attack, so you’ll want to watch the bursts, dodge three times, and then you’ll have a moment to get some initial strikes in. This is also a good time to use the immobilization spell and go to town on them.
They will then teleport away from you and move to a random side of the room. You’ll want to close the gap as quickly as possible because at a distance, they will be very hard to predict and avoid laser attacks, not to mention their aforementioned triple projectiles.
This is how the battle will play out until you take them down to about 60% health. At this point, they will teleport into the middle of the room and float in mid-air, channeling immense magical power to cast very powerful laser attacks.
These will be cast as single lasers four times, and then they will combine for a four-way blast. You can survive the single lasers, but if the combined laser beam hits you, you’re toast.
You might think hiding behind a pillar will help here. I’m just going to save you the frustration here, the beams clip through the pillars, so they’ll offer no protection.
After this section, the Captain will spawn four magic crystals at each corner of the arena, casting lasers that act like tripwires on the battlefield. This section should be treated like a game of jump rope, and if the player stands in the center of the arena, three well-timed jumps should be enough to get through this section unscathed.
After this section plays out, things will return to the way they were at the start of the fight for a while, and you’ll want to go on the offensive once again. Then when you get them down to their last 20% of HP, they’ll perform their last stand.
This is an attack where they will cast lasers all around the room and will also cast small homing projectiles as they do. The best way to avoid this is to head to the wall closest to the way you entered and pace along that wall until the phase is over.
After this, you can go on the offensive once more and take them down once and for all. Just make sure you time your dodges well, and counter when the window presents itself and you’ll win the fight.
Be wary that you only have 1.5 minutes to defeat this boss before the health drain curse kicks in. I found that this happened around the time they finished their final laser attack, so as soon as this ends, you need to be super-aggressive to end the fight as soon as possible.
