Notes: There were several tough choices that had to be made but changes were necessary after an ugly performance against the New York Jets on Saturday night.
Linebacker Dyontae Johnson is back in but it remains possible that after landing on the 53-man roster, the Giants place him on injured reserve (IR) following some waiver claims. Cornerback Darnay Holmes also remains on the initial 53 but could be a quick cut if the Giants add another CB. He’s certainly on the fringe but is better than the other remaining options on the 90-man roster.
Running back Dante Miller gets a tough cut as the Giants go with just three running backs. Hopefully, they can sneak the rookie on the practice squad.
And after sticking with veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson throughout the preseason, he finally gives way to Miles Boykin based solely on special teams value.
Finally, after an ugly game against the Jets, Austin Schlottmann gets the ax in favor of Joshua Ezeudu, who will help at tackle but really needs to move to guard eventually.
