Remember when GSC Game World released a new trailer for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl back in January and said its September release date was “final”? Well, turns out it wasn’t so final, as the studio has announced that the upcoming sequel is being delayed once again, this time to November.
In a new press release, Stalker 2 developer and publisher GSC Game World said the two-month delay will “[give] the team breathing room to address technical issues with the game and bring the final release closer to the experience that the fans expect.” Today’s news also comes with the announcement of the first-ever developer deep dive for Stalker 2, which will premiere in collaboration with Xbox on August 12th.

Despite the difficulties of war, GSC GameWorld is still committed to delivering the game with the utmost quality.
“We know you might be tired of waiting, and we truly appreciate your patience,” Yevhen Grygorovych, Game Director at GSC Game World said in a new statement. “These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more ‘unexpected anomalies’ (or simply ‘bugs’, as you call them). We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding – it means the world to us. We’re just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.”
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now set to release for Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 20th. The highly anticipated sequel has faced multiple setbacks over the years, which mainly comes down to the ongoing war in Ukraine. We’ve all got our fingers crossed that this is the final delay, but as the studio attempts to develop one of the most anticipated games in recent years, we’d all rather GSC Game World take all the time they need given the unimaginable circumstances that they face in Ukraine.
But it’s not all bad news, as we’ll be getting a fresh look at Stalker 2 on August 12th with “a variety of never-before-seen content, including interviews and behind-the-scenes looks into the development process, new footage showing a world overview, various locations, and of course, gameplay, as well as a full video walkthrough of one of the story quests.”
GSC Game World promises the upcoming developer deep dive to be “the biggest and the most comprehensive update on the game yet.” More details on the showcase will be shared soon, but in the meantime, you can check out the new trailer for Stalker 2 right here.
