Oregon lands four-star IOL over rival Big Ten schools, others

Dan Lanning has the Oregon Ducks humming right now, but especially now that his program is in the Big Ten, it’s important to keep things rolling.

That means all the success Lanning and Oregon have on the field needs to translate to the recruiting trail — and vice versa — and the Ducks just picked up a big win in that regard.

Alai Kalaniuvalu, four-star interior offensive tackle recruit from Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman High School, committed to the Ducks over Michigan, USC, Utah and Nebraska.

In total, he boasts nearly 30 offers, but the opportunity to join what Lanning has (re)built at Oregon was too much to turn down for Kalaniuvalu.

“The culture was big for me and I like what’s going on at Oregon right now,” he told told 247Sports. “I love what they are building up and the environment — they all have the winning mentality. It’s going to be a great spot the next few years and hopefully we’ll be able to win a national championship.”

Kalaniuvalu also saw the recent success Oregon has had sending offensive linemen to the NFL. Penei Sewell is the big example but keep in mind Jackson Powers-Johnson just went No. 44 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders and he played Kalaniuvalu’s likely position (center) for the Ducks.

“I’m just excited to be a part of that program and can’t wait to do my part to push Oregon forward,” the four-star said. 

According to 247Sports, Kalaniuvalu is the No. 9 interior offensive line recruit in the 2025 class. He’s originally from Provo, Utah.
