Ubisoft kicked off the week with a brand-new season of Rainbow Six Siege. But the heavy emphasis on the Recruit re-work, coupled with the incredibly controversial membership subscription, has made Year 9 Season 2 one of Rainbow Six Siege‘s “worst seasons of all time,” according to the game’s community.
Year 9 Season 2, known more commonly as ‘Operation New Blood’, was launched on June 11th and brought with it a complete overhaul to the game’s Recruit class. With the popular first-person shooter accumulating a plethora of new Operators over the years, Ubisoft decided it was time to re-work the Recruit class, which is usually assigned to players who don’t select an Operator before their match begins.

Instead of being one simple Recruit class, Operation New Blood splits this Operator into two separate classes: Striker (Attacker) and Sentry (Defender). While the concept is fine, it’s the execution that has rattled fans. By execution, I mean the simple fact that Ubisoft used a whole season to make these changes, with really no other content being introduced with the update.
There has also been some balance adjustments, map updates, and a new Battle Pass introduced, but fans don’t think it’s enough. Alongside the unnecessary changes made to the Recruit class, Rainbow Six Siege’s controversial new membership subscription has given fans more than enough reason to blast this as one of the worst seasons to date.
Rainbow Six Siege Fans Want To Review Bomb The Game
Over on the Rainbow Six Siege subreddit, multiple posts are expressing their disappointment with the game’s latest season. Reddit user Arkence_1, for example, says “it’s time to review bomb” Rainbow Six Siege. “This is the worst season we’ve had in 9 years,” they then stated.
They then went on to list a magnitude of different issues with Year 9 Season 2, from a “terrible Battle Pass” to a plethora of new bugs and glitches.
In a separate post by Itz_zk, the user called this the “worst season of all time,” before listing their personal list of gripes with the season.
“They somehow broke more than they fixed, in typical ubisoft fashion. The colours look weird, controller aim feels awful, bad fps issues, lag (not just my internet, everyone in my games has it too), bad servers, bad queue times, a recruit rework NO ONE asked for, and a lazy battle pass to top it all off.”
While fans are clearly disappointed with the new season, Rainbow Six Siege still sits at “mostly positive” in terms of recent reviews on Steam.
