The Dodgers are poised to acquire utility man Cavan Biggio from the Blue Jays for Minor League righty Braydon Fisher, according to a report Wednesday morning by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The clubs have not confirmed the deal.
The 29-year-old Biggio, the son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, has hit .200 with two homers in 44 games this season and has struck out 42 times in 110 at-bats. The six-year veteran was designated for assignment by Toronto on Friday.
Biggio has played 252 of his 490 career games at second base, a position of weakness for the Dodgers due to Gavin Lux’s .574 OPS this season.
Biggio has hit .227/.343/.382 with 48 homers and 32 steals in his career, spent entirely with Toronto.
The 23-year-old Fisher, a fourth-round pick of the Dodgers in 2018, has posted a 5.68 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A this season and has a 4.53 ERA across 134 pro outings (12 starts).
