- Bethesda Game Studios unveils Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC trailer and shadow-drops new Creation Kit.
- Starfield’s Creation Kit allows modders to use the same tool-kit used by Bethesda to create new content.
- The community has expressed its disapproval of the pricing of most of Starfield’s creations.
During yesterday’s massive Xbox Games Showcase, Bethesda Game Studios finally revealed the first official trailer for Starfield‘s Shattered Space DLC, which is set to launch later this year. The studio also shadow-dropped a new update for the base game, filled with plenty of new content, including the highly-anticipated arrival of the Creation Kit.
For those who might be unaware, the Creation Kit is a special tool that allows the community to create mods with the very same tool-kit that Bethesda uses to create new content. While there is already a plethora of Starfield mods available on the likes of NexusMods, the Creation Kit aims to make the process more streamlined for creators and users who are looking to mod their game.

The art style and tone of the trailer have come under fire.
“Creations may include new missions, gear, skins, weapons, and more,” Bethesda says on its official website. “You’ll also find Bethesda Game Studios Creations including one of the new Trackers Alliance missions, The Vulture.”
While the Creation Kit is a great way for modders to create new content, and for players to add plenty of new content to their game, it comes at a price. A price that the community isn’t happy about.
Starfield Players Think Creation Kit Prices Are Too High
The price of Starfield’s creations, whether they are official Bethesda creations or community-made creations, varies. A Bethesda-made bounty mission, for example, will set you back 700 creation credits. While a cosmetic plushie set costs 300 creation credits. To put into perspective how much this would cost you in real money, it is £8.99 GBP or $10 USD to purchase 1,000 creation credits on Steam.
This means you’re looking at $10 if you want to get a new bounty mission, which fans believe is just too much. “The creation prices are predictably excessive,” one user said on Reddit. After totalling up the prices of various creations, which you can see for yourself in the post below, the user said they were “disappointed” at the pricing.
Other users agreed, with one fellow Starfield player stating, “Yeah the value proposition seems all over the place. $10 USD gets you a nonfunctional ship module, and $5 gets you a single small quest…It seems like I can drop $60 on the Creation Club and get very little.”
It’s also worth noting that many of these creations, unless stated otherwise, will disable your ability to earn achievements, which many users have also taken issue with. “I can’t wait to pay money for a pistol that disables my achievements,” one user said sarcastically.
If you want to find out more about Starfield’s latest update, as well as the new Creation Kit, head on over to Bethesda’s official website to check out the patch notes.
