MIAMI — Marlins left-hander Jesús Luzardo tossed a career-high eight innings and Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a leadoff homer in Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory over the Brewers at loanDepot park. Miami has won three straight series.
Luzardo scattered three hits — all singles — and at one point retired 17 consecutive batters until Gary Sánchez’s one-out single in the eighth. He struck out four and walked none in a 100-pitch outing.
Chisholm pulled right-hander Freddy Peralta’s 3-1 fastball over the right-field wall for his second leadoff homer of the season. His seven leadoff homers rank second in franchise history.
Since returning from the injured list, Luzardo has a 0.92 ERA (2 ER, 19 2/3 IP) in three starts.
