As anyone who has played FUT for a long time will tell you, ratings aren’t everything when it comes to putting together a good team. Sometimes there are cards that are inexplicably brilliant, yet they don’t cost all that much to get into your squad.

EA Sports FC 25 Review
If you love the beautiful game and need an excuse to ditch that worn copy of eFootball PES 2021, this is it.
Take the amazing front three of yesteryear: Gervinho, Doumbia, and Ibarbo. They were arguably the best forwards in FIFA 15, but they didn’t break the bank.
That’s what we want to shine a spotlight on today. Players that are affordable right from the moment you hop into FUT.
But equally, players that you’ll get a lot of use out of and will probably remain consistent members of your starting eleven. So, if you want to be thrifty, but still remain competitive, then you need to give these players a try.
What we consider to be an absolute bargain in FUT that is attainable for beginners starting the game is 5,000 coins or less. So, no players listed will cost more than this. (All prices are accurate at the time of writing, but subject to change)
10 Marcel Sabitzer
Price (Approximate) | 1,200 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute | Long Shots |
Let’s kick things off with a former Manchester United player who is now plying his trade in Germany and doing a mighty fine job of it. Marcel Sabitzer is a little bit of everything, making him a really great player to get in early to act as the midfield general you can build your squad around.
He may not be the fastest player on the pitch, meaning he’s definitely more suited to a holding midfielder role, but aside from that, he’s got no weak points.
He’s got a fantastic range of passing, he’s physically imposing, he’s got good close control, and he’s also got phenomenal long shots, allowing you to let rip from distance and have it pay off more times than you might think.
He’s a standout player which you can get for an absolute bargain, so if you’re building a Bundesliga squad, get this guy in.
9 Jadon Sancho
Price (Approximate) | 850 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute | 5* Skills |
This one might be a little bit of a hard sell to veteran players who rate wingers in EAFC purely based on how fast they are because Jadon Sancho is not known for his blistering pace, but some of the England international’s other stats do a lot to make up for that.
He’s got decent passing and shooting, nothing to write home about, but serviceable. But where he shines is when working in a tight space.
With a combo of fantastic dribbling stats and five-star skill moves, Jaden, in the hands of a skilled player, can go through the most steely defenses like a hot knife through butter.
Plus, if you want to build a budget-forward line with great chemistry, you can add the likes of Palmer, Nkunku, and Jackson for less than 10K all in.
So if you sense a Blues revival this season and want to do your part, Jadon Sancho could be a great FUT card to go for.
8 Kingsley Coman
Price (Approximate) | 2,800 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute(s) | Dribbling/Pace |
It’s incredible to think that Kingsley Coman is still considered one of those ‘under the radar’ bargain FUT players.
Especially considering that the man has spent the vast majority of his career winning a league title in almost every season he has been a part of. This is perhaps why his stats showcase his serial winning ways.
He’s got incredible pace, solid shooting and exceptional dribbling, making him the complete package as far as wide players are concerned.
It was a toss up between Coman and Olise as both Bayern men are budget options worth their weight in gold, but for us, Coman is definitely the pick of the litter.
7 Manuel Akanji
Price (Approximate) | 2,100 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute(s) | Pace/Defending |
It’s notable that there has been a change in impetus when it comes to the focus on defending over attacking in this year’s EA FC installment.
It’s clear that you can’t just rely on lobbed through balls and pace merchants. You need to have a bit of steel at the back, and that usually translates to a blend of defensive acumen and pace to run towards your own goal, and that’s something that Manuel Akanji has in spades.
It’s hardly surprising that the Man City regular is highly rated, but what’s shocking is just how cheap you can nail down this cultured centre back.
You’ll pay next to nothing and get a top-tier rock at the back who can play ball. Combine this with a fellow cheap FUT option like John Stones and you have a natural pairing that won’t break the bank, but will break a striker’s resolve.
6 Artem Dovbyk
Price (Approximate) | 1,200 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute(s) | Pace/Shooting |
I can’t pretend to be a huge follower of Serie A, or the comings and goings at Roma post-Mourinho. But what I do know is that Artem Dovbyk is the real deal.
It’s incredible that this cultured forward costs just over 1K, considering that they have the pace to burn a defender, incredible finishing, and powerful physical stats to win a jostle and wriggle free to create a chance out of nothing.
We can only assume that the reason why this forward is as cheap as he is comes down to his country of origin, as it’s rather difficult to find a perfect link with another Ukrainian attacker.
But if you’re willing to look past this, you’ll gain a staggeringly powerful forward who will pay back your faith in him with oodles of goals. So, go on, take a chance of Dovbyk.
5 Marcus Thuram
Price (Approximate) | 900 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute | Pace |
Considering who Marcus Thuram’s father is, it always felt like just a matter of time before Marcus burst onto the big stage and became a reliable starter for a European giant, and he seems to have found that role in Milan (or Lombardia, depending on who you ask).
It’s shocking to me that you can pick up this French international for less than 1K at the time of writing, because this card is very impressive. Thuram is fast, strong, and can reliably dribble, pass and shoot.
Essentially, he offers the full package that makes him ideal for a lone striker role in a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-3. He may not hold a candle to his strike partner Martinez, but he’s a great placeholder until you get the funds together.
4 Athenea Del Castillo
Price (Approximate) | 750 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute | 5* Weak Foot |
It’s about time we got some female representation up here. When it comes to FUT bargains, we can think of no one better than Del Castillo, as she shines in pretty much every department.
The most standout aspects of her FUT card are her pace and dribbling. However, it’s not really about the numbers attached to her card; it’s the stars.
Atheana has four-star skills that allow her to dance around defenders. She also has a five-star weak foot rating, which makes this tricky winger perfect for cutting inside and rifling a long-range effort right into the top corner. Plus, she’s a galactico, so you know you’re getting quality.
3 Giorgi Mamardashvili
Price (Approximate) | 3,900 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute(s) | Diving/Reflexes/Positioning |
Much like we needed some female representation, we also need to show love to all the goalies out there, and there’s no better man for the job than the star of the recent Georgian Euros squad, Giorgi Mamardashvili.
He may officially be a Liverpool player in waiting, but he’s at Valencia until next season, so he’s still a perfect candidate for any La Liga squad.
The obvious downside is that there aren’t many Georgian or Valencia players you would choose to add to your squad to make a perfect link. But if you can overlook this minor issue, you’ll get a keeper with cat-like reflexes, excellent shot-stopping ability, and great positioning.
You likely won’t be able to spell his name, but you certainly won’t forget it when it saves your bacon in the dying minutes of a game.
2 Dayot Upamecano
Price (Approximate) | 4,500 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute | Pace |
It’s no secret that Dayot Upamecano hasn’t exactly been the worldbeater that many thought he would be upon arriving at Bayern Munich.
But even if he hasn’t achieved the lofty heights many expected of him, he’s still a solid defender in his own right, which is very clear from a glance at his FUT card. He’s a very physical defender, and great at the defensive fundamentals.
However, the real standout feature here is that he boasts a phenomenal 81 pace, which, unless you have Micky Van Der Ven in your team, is about as good as it gets for a center back.
The downside is that his shooting and passing leave a lot to be desired, but if you’re in the market for a cheap, no-nonsense defender, then Dayot Upamecano is a great option.
1 Viktor Gyökeres
Price (Approximate) | 3,000 |
---|---|
Strongest Attribute(s) | Pace/physical |
Then, lastly, we have a striker that was linked with my beloved Arsenal, and it pains me that nothing ever materialized, as this prolific striker is tearing it up in Portugal, and that prolific form is undoubtedly why he has such an eye-catching FUT card.
He offers top-tier pace, very impressive shooting, and staggering physicality that even Adebayo Akinfenwa would be proud of.
The issue here is that he plays in a slightly less trendy league as far as FUT is concerned, and he’s also of Swedish origin, so it can be very tricky to crowbar him into a team and still make the chemistry work.
But, we suggest you jury-rig it any way you can because the payoff is a world-class striker that doesn’t break the bank.
