It’s no secret that rising lightweight star Paddy Pimblett packs on some pounds when he’s not training for a fight. He recently set the record in a chicken wing eating contest at a hometown restaurant.
Pimblett (22-3) last fought at UFC 304 in late July, defeating Bobby Green via tri-angle choke in the first round. The win over Green secured Pimblett a spot in the Top 15 lightweight rankings. Three weeks after the fight, Pimblett had put on 40 pounds. Weighing 195 pounds, Pimblett recently returned to the gym to prepare for whatever fight lies ahead.
“I came out unscathed (against Green). As soon as I got back off holiday I was back in the gym,” Pimblett said in a video posted to his YouTube channel.
“When I put a bit of weight on, people make so much of a bigger deal out of it,” Pimblett continued. “I’m about 195 pounds. Something like that. I don’t think that’s that heavy, personally.”
“I just like to eat food. It just happens,” Pimblett added.
Pimblett anticipates fighting again before the end of the year, and would like to face 11th ranked Renato Moicano. Moicano headlines this weekend’s UFC fight card in Paris against 12th ranked Benoit Saint Denis.
“I think I’m going to get asked again to fight before the end of the year. But as I say, we’ll see what happens. I could have other things that I need to do,” Pimblett said. “We need to see how my boy Renato gets on (this weekend) don’t we?”
