College football conference realignment appears to be on the brink of another monumental shift. But instead of a mass exodus from the Pac-12, there seems to be a line forming to get in.
At the front of that (short) line is Sacramento State, an FCS school with a student population of just 31,000.
On Friday, business leaders, university officials and local politicians gathered at the Hornets football stadium (which seats 21,195) to make a formal pitch to the Pac-12 for admittance.
