As the Liberty prepare for the start of their WNBA Semifinals series against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, a pair of New York players earned some hardware.
Forward Breanna Stewart was named to the All-Defensive First Team, while center Jonquel Jones was selected to the All-Defensive Second Team.
For Stewart, the First Team selection is her third straight, as she averaged 8.8 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game, all of which ranked in the top 10 among all WNBA players. This is also her sixth total All-Defensive Team selection.
Jones, meanwhile, finished sixth in the league with 9.0 rebounds per game and was tied with Stewart for ninth place with 1.3 blocks per context.
Joining Stewart on the First Team is Defensive Player of the Year Napheesa Collier of Minnesota, Connecticut’s DiJonai Carrington, Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson, and Seattle’s Ezi Magbegor.
