As we’ve come accustomed to with the Irishman, Conor McGregor chose violence when discussing Belal Muhammad and his championship reign.
McGregor isn’t in mixed martial arts to make any friends, and we’ve seen him clash with athletes both inside and outside of the sport. Fighters often talk their way into high-profile matchups that they otherwise didn’t deserve, and it’s proven to be an effective tactic in the past.
That seems to be what Conor McGregor was going for when he unleashed a verbal attack on current UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad.
During his live stream with Duel Bits, ‘The Notorious’ didn’t hold back when giving his opinion of Muhammad.
“What do you think about Belal Muhammad as a champ? He’s woeful,” McGregor said. “I want to fight him.”
“Okay, [Michael] Chandler’s matched. Belal, McGregor, UFC welteweight world title fight on the line.”
Conor McGregor continued to make his case on why he believes he’d be successful against the newly-crowned champion.
“I’ve multiple knockouts at 170. I’m a force to be reckoned with at 170. I do damage at 170, yeah. Check the stats.”
“I’ve done them at 100% accuracy. This man hasn’t even got a knock down in UFC history. Not one knock down, it’s embarrassing to be honest.”
Listen to McGregor’s rant below.
Conor McGregor calls out Belal Muhammad and says he wants to fight him next for the title:
"Okay Chandler's matched. Belal McGregor UFC Welterweight World Title Fight…
I do damage at 170, yea… this man [Belal] hasn't even got a knockdown in UFC history. Not one knockdown,… pic.twitter.com/QbMmcHUya3

Belal Muhammad has now spoken out for the first time since McGregor’s outburst went viral.

‘Remember the Name’ is considering who his first title defense shall be against. While Kamaru Usman has been vocal about getting the shot, Muhammad prefers the young, hungry, and considerably more deserving Shavkat Rakhmonov to step up to the plate first.
However, Conor McGregor’s comments could have changed the champion’s intentions.
Belal Muhammad was quick to respond and seemingly shown an interest in the matchup. It didn’t take long for the grappler to accept McGregor’s bout request.
😂😂wins over …🤔🤔ok I think he earned it https://t.co/JyjYAaNgx4
